WHERE?

Black Rock Park on Lake Buchanan
3400 TX-261, Buchanan Dam, TX 78609

Black Rock Park is an LCRA park on Lake Buchanan. It’s very beautiful, clean, and our favorite family-friendly camping destination. There are full restrooms with flushing toilets & showers very close to the campsite. The lake is nearby with a nice sand gravel beach & kayaks for rent, but far enough from our chosen site to not have to worry about toddlers. Even more, there’s a playground & even a miniature golf course! Campsites include water, but please contact us if you plan to bring a camper or RV and we’ll assist you with a reservation.

WHAT?

This family camping adventure equips you to bond as a family unit in the outdoors, camp with your family, & hang out around the campfire (weather permitting)

Skills learned & practiced:

  • Camping Trip Planning — We’ll talk through how we plan our own trips with kids, what to look for in campsites, & how to get out there to explore.

  • Outdoor Cooking — Learn to cook delicious, easy meals on a camp stove.

  • Gear Recommendations — What’s worth spending money on (and more importantly, what isn’t!) to make your family comfortable outside.

  • Leave No Trace — How to reduce your impact on the outdoors while you enjoy it, including LNT for kids!

  • Quality Time — This is NOT an over-programmed event; We’ll make space for your family to enjoy downtime.

Optional activities (some are additional cost): yard games, swimming, kayaking, mini golf, & hammocks (bring your own!)
