Central Texas

Everything within a 3-hour drive of Austin, TX. (Also includes our home base of Bastrop, TX.)

Made up of diverse eco regions like the Blackland Prairies, Post Oak Savannah, & the Lost Pines, the classic Central Texas landscape includes rolling hills, lush river valleys, creeks with hidden waterfalls, bare granite domes & limestone cliffs.

Within this region, we operate the bulk of our half-day & full-day skill training & team development programs, weekend adventures, retreats, & custom events.

Rocky Mountains

From northern New Mexico to Colorado and beyond, the beautiful Rockies provide an ideal landscape for many of our longer programs. These mountainscapes have it all: backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, camping, fishing, hiking, and more.

Within this region, we operate a majority of our adventure trips and leadership expeditions.

FAQs

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • Now, more than ever before, it’s critical for us to disengage from our busy lives and the noise of civilization. Retreat into wilderness has been used through history (even in the Bible) for people preparing for a season of action.

As Murray Pura wrote: “No man can go into the mountains or forests, no matter who he is or what he believes, and not at some point think God thoughts.”

Now, that doesn’t mean every program is deep in the woods! For Summit Outdoor Leadership, wilderness is a spectrum — from day trips at city parks within city limits to 100 miles from nowhere, pockets of wilderness can be found everywhere!

  • We believe people best grow when guided out of their comfort zones, spend time in the stretch zone, & then debrief.

We like how G.K. Chesterton said: “Adventure is only inconvenience rightly considered; Inconvenience is only adventure wrongly considered.”
